Scout System Administration

Course Overview

Successful implementations rely on Scout knowledge. This course begins the process of learning the architecture, system operation, and dispatching capabilities of the Scout system through hands-on experience in system configuration and deployment, user interface design, console operation, and system database backup and restoration.

Intended Audience

Installers, Maintainers, Network Administrators, Data and Voice Engineers, Radio Technicians, Super Users

Objectives

After completing this course, you will be able to:

Understand Scout system architecture
Utilize Enterprise Management Tools using IIS® / MSMQ®/SQL®
Understand enhanced security options
Understand system component communication
Execute a system deployment
View system component diagnostics
View Scout’s statistical data collection for dispatcher and system activity reporting

Prerequisites

A working knowledge of Microsoft Windows 7/10® operating systems, IP networking with an understanding of Unicast and Multicast protocols, Telephony and Radio Communication Standards and protocols is required.

Scout Operator Training

Course Overview

The Scout System Operator Training course covers basic console system operations. Students are instructed on the use of system features to provide them with the skills and knowledge to operate a Scout console.

Intended Audience

Dispatch Operators, Dispatching Center Supervisors

Objectives

After completing this course, you will be able to:

Identify and describe key components of the Scout console system
Carry out standard business events using a Scout console
Understand Scout component connectivity and connection options

A familiarization with personal computers

Train-the-Trainer Session

Customer's in-service or demo/test system is utilized.
Location: Customer Site
Length of Class: Varies (max 2 sessions/day

Customer’s configuration and version of software is utilized.
Location: Avtec Training Facility
Length of Class: 8 hours

*Course requires an additional two days on site for trainer to perform material set-up tasks.

*The Customer provides their Scout Project two weeks prior to the class.

Scout Supervisor Training

Course Overview

The Scout System Supervisor Training course offers an orientation of Scout’s overall operation and dispatching capabilities. The class provides trainees with an understanding of how the Scout console can be configured to meet the needs of their operation.

Dispatching Center Supervisors

Objectives

After completing this course, you will be able to:

Identify and describe key components of the Scout console system
Carry out standard business events using a Scout console
Understand Scout component connectivity and connection options
Demonstrate a high-level understanding of VPGate, endpoints, and console connectivity
Access VPGate, console, and project configurations
Perform back-up and restorations of various configuration files

Prerequisites

A working knowledge of Microsoft Windows 7® operating system, basic knowledge of IP networking , familiarization with Telephony and Radio Communication Standards.
