Overview A recently announced bug in Microsoft® Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 (including R2) can affect certain Scout software and cause system elements to stop functioning. The software programs are ones that use a HASP licensing key for authorization and include VPGate, Frontier, Scout consoles using the software media gateway, and Ranger; Scout consoles using the Hardware Media Workstation are not affected. After 497 days of continuous operation without a reboot of Microsoft Windows, the bug can occur, causing loss of communications to the HASP key and a shutdown of functionality.
