New version allows greater mobility, flexibility, encryption management tools and options for public safety environments
Lexington, S.C. (August 14, 2013) – Avtec Inc., manufacturer of the Scout™ VoIP communication console system used by the public safety, transportation, utility, business, and government industries, will be launching Scout 3.1 at the upcoming APCO (Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials) conference in Anaheim, Calif. Scout version 3.1 features a P25-compliant key management facility (KMF) interface that ensures secure over-the air- encryption when updating radio keys.
Avtec’s Scout system works with more advanced radio and telephony technologies than any other pure-IP console, so users are not locked into a proprietary system.
Avtec’s latest product suite allows users to choose the dispatching configuration that best suits their agency’s needs and budget, whether you need the performance of dedicated media processing; the flexibility of a software media processing; or the portability of a tablet.
The three configuration options are:
1) The Scout Plus Console package is for mission-critical environments. It is equipped with a dedicated media processor and two network interfaces to offer 100 percent redundancy for the highest level of performance.
Professional-grade peripherals offer durability and performance in a sleek new design.
2) Scout’s software media processing option is ideal for mobile command units and disaster recovery scenarios because it offers users flexibility of a pure software option with full feature capability. It is scalable to easily accommodate the addition of new dispatch seats without the associated need for proprietary hardware.
3) Scout’s Ranger™ accessory is a complementary tool that runs on any Windows 7 device, including tablets, laptops and PCs. It utilizes Scout’s software media processing technology and a concentration of Scout’s dispatching features, giving senior staff the ability to oversee situations and collaborate on high-profile incidents without the need for a full console position.
“Avtec’s Scout 3.1 release addresses the needs of different users in the organization who require different dispatch capabilities and want customizable solutions and interfaces,” said Kevin Williams, Avtec’s vice president of product development. “No other product offers the level of flexibility of Scout. More importantly, Avtec understands the importance of providing proven solutions when lives are on the line. Everything we do is centered on providing advanced functionality and ease of use combined with unparalleled quality and uninterrupted reliability.”
