Dispatch console vendor Avtec, Inc. announced that it will host an inaugural event, aptly named “ConnectFest,” at the February 2012 International Wireless Communications Expo (IWCE) in Las Vegas to demonstrate its Scout™ consoles’ unparalleled connectivity to advanced radio interfaces. During ticketed ConnectFest sessions, Avtec will unveil three new radio interfaces. Avtec is the first-to-market with a direct IP connection to Kenwood’s NEXEDGE® NXR-700/NXR-800 repeaters, as well as a direct IP connection to Icom’s IDAS™ IC-FR5000/IC-FR6000 repeater, and support for Sprint’s Direct Connect® push-to-talk cellular service.
In January 2012, Avtec became the first console vendor in North America with a live Project 25 (P25)-compliant Console Sub-System Interface (CSSI) installation when the City of Richardson, Texas launched its new state-of-the-art public safety communications center. This success story will be presented during the Cassidian ConnectFest session on February 23. Product demonstrations will be available during the IWCE show.

Eight live demonstrations featuring speakers from Avtec, Motorola Solutions, Icom, Kenwood USA, Sprint Nextel, Daniels, Tait Communications, and Cassidian will be held during the Avtec ConnectFest event on Feb. 22-23 in Room #S226 in the Las Vegas Convention Center (across from the IWCE exhibition hall). Seating is limited and tickets to the event are required.
