Kodiak and Avtec Partner for Enhanced Broadband PTT and Scout Console Integration

March 18, 2015 | by Tiffany Rushton

Kodiak and Avtec, Inc. are developing an IP interface to integrate the Kodiak Broadband PTT solution and the Avtec Scout dispatch console

Plano, TX, March 18, 2015 – Kodiak, a leading provider of broadband push-to-talk solutions, and Avtec, a leading provider of pure Internet Protocol (IP) dispatch console systems, announced today that they are partnering in the development of a wireline IP interface to provide advanced integration between the Kodiak Broadband PTT solution and the Avtec Scout dispatch console. The IP interface will allow smartphones, feature phones, and purpose built devices connected to the Kodiak Broadband PTT solution to communicate with talk groups and other land mobile radio (LMR) systems connected to the Avtec Scout dispatch consoles.

The standards-based Kodiak Broadband PTT solution delivers clear, reliable, sub-second push-to-talk communications, and LMR interoperability over 3G, 4G, LTE, and Wi-Fi networks. The Avtec Scout system supports direct IP wireline connections to a wide variety of LMR technologies, such as MOTOTRBO, P25, DMR, and NXDN, in addition to legacy PTT services.

Integrating the Kodiak Broadband PTT solution with Avtec consoles via an IP interface opens up new levels of connectivity for both PTT and LMR users. Push-to-talk users now have access to the same carrier-class dispatch capabilities that were previously available only to LMR users. Integration with Kodiak makes the Avtec console system the center for connectivity to LMR networks, carrier-integrated broadband PTT, telephony platforms, computer-aided dispatch (CAD) systems, logging recorders, and I/O devices.

“The IP interface between our carrier-integrated Broadband PTT solution and Avtec’s console continues our focus on new ways to augment LMR networks, making it possible for the Scout dispatch consoles to seamlessly communicate with push-to-talk users on cellular networks,” said Bruce Lawler, Co-Founder and Chief Product Officer, Kodiak.

“Avtec is delighted to leverage our partnership with Kodiak and open a new class of connectivity for both PTT and LMR users, giving them more options to reach their mobile users,” said Mike Ridge, Director of Partnerships and Alliances for Avtec.
